The IRC is an association not for gain in South Africa and is funded by membership subscriptions from Corporate and Organisation members. It was founded in 2010 by founding organisations ASISA, IoDSA, JSE and SAICA. We offer a number of valued membership benefits to our Corporate members. There are two categories of Corporate membership – Large Corporate (including listed companies, non-listed companies, accounting firms and SOEs).and SME Corporate members (including IR consultancies and design houses). The membership benefits are listed below. The annual, renewable membership year is from 1 April to 31 March.
Large Corporate members
- As a joining benefit, a one-hour Board session with Professor Mervyn King (Chair of the IRC), Professor Suresh Kana (Deputy Chair of the IRC) and Leigh Roberts (CEO of the IRC) on integrated thinking, integrated reporting and the latest developments in corporate reporting.
- Members-only webcasts on newly-released consultation papers and standards.
- Members-only events on international developments with Professor Mervyn King and Professor Suresh Kana.
- A technical discussion of your latest integrated report benchmarked against the Integrated Reporting Framework by IRC experts.
- Invitations to attend the IRC Annual Conference.
- Opportunity to give input on the IRC comment submissions on international consultation papers and exposure drafts.

The 2023/24 annual membership subscription is R50 000 plus VAT from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024.
SME Corporate members
- Members-only webcasts on newly-released consultation papers and standards.
- Members-only events on international developments with Professor Mervyn King and Professor Suresh Kana.
- Membership of the IR Practitioners Forum, which is an exclusive Forum for IR consultants with webcasts covering topical issues and discussions throughout the year.
- Invitations to attend the IRC Annual Conference.
- Opportunity to give input on the IRC comment submissions on international consultation papers and exposure drafts.
- The branding benefits include:

Organisation members
The IRC has 17 Organisation members who are the main professional and regulatory bodies with an interest in governance and reporting in South Africa. Organisation members have the prime advantage of sharing the IRC’s technical publications and technical developments with their own members. And with the current and ongoing developments in international corporate reporting, Organisation members are kept up to date with the latest happenings and can consider the implications for their particular areas. Other membership benefits include:
