Here’s what members and stakeholders have to say about the IRC of South Africa:
To send in your message to the IRC to appear on this page, please email tenyears@integratedreportingsa.org (35 words or less please)Congratulations IRCSA on your 10th anniversary.
“Tempus fugit! It seems as if it were yesterday that Leigh Roberts and I started the IRC of SA. King III had recommended integrated thinking and reporting but there was no guidance for preparers on how it should be implemented. We put a team together and the first guidance in the world on IR was issued. It became the blueprint for the International <IR> Framework. The work of the IRC has been recognised internationally and acknowledged for its inputs on IR. A great thank you to all our members and supporters without whom we will not be able to celebrate our 10th year!”
Mervyn King – Chairman of the IRC of SA, Chairman emeritus of the IIRC
“The IRCSA has been a trailblazer in the development of integrated reporting and encouraging integrated thinking. The Framework developed by the IRCSA was the 1st globally and used by the IIRC as the basis to develop the global Framework we have today. In addition, many guides have been issued to support the implementation of the Framework.
Integrated Reporting has positively transformed Corporate Reporting in many countries and allows organisations to share their value creation story. The emphasis placed in the Framework on ESG is so relevant to the challenges and opportunities the world currently faces.
All the best on your 10th anniversary and continue being the trailblazer that you are!
Specifically, thank you Mervyn and Leigh for your leadership in making the IRCSA the preeminent leader in this space.”
Suresh P Kana, Deputy Chairman of the IRC of SA, Chair of the King Committee
“SAICA wishes the IRC a hearty congratulations on your 10 year anniversary. Looking forward to partnering with you to keep South Africa at the helm of the IR world.”
Milton Segal, SAICA, Senior Executive: Corporate Reporting
“As the IRC of SA turns 10 it has never been more important, with continued social inequalities, resource degradation and the impacts of climate change, to truly embed integrated thinking. As pioneers in integrated reporting, thanks to the IRC, we must not think our work is done.”
Jayne Mammatt, PwC, Partner/Director – Sustainability and Climate Change
“South Africa has been a leader and a pioneer in developing and introducing Codes of Corporate Governance for the planet. Similarly it has led in conceptualizing and embedding Integrated Reporting and Integrated Thinking in the corporate world. This is directly and solely attributable to the dedication and effort of a special group of individuals (one of our 6 capitals).
We salute them.”
Russell Loubser, Honorary member of the IRC of SA
“I thought I would let you know what immense value the IRC’s guidance papers have been… Almost every area that I was unsure of, I could find some useful guidance on the website.”
Parmi Natesan, CEO of the Institute of Directors in South Africa
“The introduction of Integrated Reporting has resulted in a better business environment. Entities have been challenged to understand their businesses holistically and to appreciate how decisions made affect the various capitals.”
Garth Coppin, Honorary member of the IRC of SA
“Integrated thinking and reporting have revolutionised reporting, turning the conventional 20th century annual report on its head. We couldn’t have done it alone – thank you to the IRC of SA for its guidance, clarification and support on this journey.”
Charmane Russell, Director, R&A Strategic Communications
